Khorda fort was one of the last independent forts in Odisha — rather, in India. It holds a cultural significance in the dialect of the Odishan freedom movement. Today only the plinths remain, and a space holding such importance was kept neglected.
The redevelopment proposal, along with the beautification of the peripheral areas, helps in enabling tourist influx in the area.
